McKinsey & Company Global Managing Partner, Dominic Barton, will speak on the rising challenge of short-termism and the need to reform capitalism for the long-term. He will outline ongoing research on the impact of short-termism on the economy, the challenges faced across the investment value chain, and pragmatic steps that can be taken to encourage more long-term thinking and action. He will also outline ongoing initiatives from FCLT Global, a nonprofit headquartered here in Boston, which is developing practical tools and approaches that encourage long-term behaviors in business and investment decision-making.
In his 31 years with McKinsey & Company, Dominic Barton has advised clients in a range of industries including banking, consumer goods, high tech and industrials. Prior to his current role, Dominic was based in Shanghai as McKinsey's Asia Chairman from 2004 to 2009 and led the Korea office from 2000 to 2004.
He is the Chair of the Canadian Minister of Finance's Advisory Council on Economic Growth and the Chair of the Seoul International Business Advisory Council. He is also a Trustee of the Brookings Institution, a member of the Singapore Economic Development Board's International Advisory Council, and a member of the boards of Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.
