"Venus Meets Mars: The marriage of P&G and Gillette" Long known as a company that specializes in marketing to women, Procter & Gamble has recently merged with "the best a man can get," The Gillette Company. P&G's Global External Relations Officer, Charlotte Otto, will share some of the key principles underlying P&G's success, including its strong track record of advancing women. She will also discuss P&G's tradition of community involvement and the outlook for engagement in Boston. Charlotte Otto is the global external relations officer at The Procter & Gamble Company, where she is responsible for the company's worldwide media relations, product publicity, consumer relations, employee and shareholder communications, government and community relations, and corporate contributions. Since Procter & Gamble's 2005 merger with The Gillette Corporation, Otto now oversees global external relations for the world's largest consumer products company. Otto joined Procter & Gamble in 1976 as a brand assistant and quickly took on positions of increasing responsibility. She served as vice president of public relations, senior vice president of public affairs, and as global public affairs officer, before being named global external relations officer in 2000. Otto is an active member of the business community. She serves as chair of Downtown Cincinnati, Inc., vice chair of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member of the Greater Cincinnati Convention & Visitor's Bureau and the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority.
