Liz Cheng is WGBH’s General Manager for Television, overseeing local channels WGBH 2, WGBX 44, ‘GBH Kids, Create, and Boston Kids & Family TV as well as the national public television multicast channel WORLD. Cheng came to WGBH from WCVB-TV Channel 5, where she served as Vice President as well as Director of Programming and Communications. Cheng was executive in charge of production for the acclaimed newsmagazine Chronicle; for syndicated programs, and other local productions. She executive-produced 10 years of Pops Goes the Fourth! and Holiday Pops with the Boston Pops for simulcast on the A&E Network; she also originated documentaries and specials for the History Channel. Cheng’s projects have received two National Association of Broadcasters Awards, two National Association of Television Programming Executives honors, three Gabriel Awards, an Imagen Award, an Action for Children’s Television Award, a Parents’ Choice Award, a Christopher, a National Prime-time Emmy nomination and many New England Emmys, to name a few.
