Mark Williams, Master Lecturer at Boston University and past BEC President will present insights from his recent immigration study, which explores the role immigrants play in the US and Baystate in driving population growth, strengthening the labor force, and fostering economic progress. The BU Immigration study, featured in the Boston Globe, Boston Business Journal, and Commonwealth Beacon, highlights how immigrants are essential across key industries, including STEM fields, healthcare, construction, and service jobs. It also examines how immigration helps counter outmigration trends in Massachusetts. Looking ahead, he will also cover how the state is economically vulnerable to stricter immigration and deportation polices and what countermeasures should be put in place.
