Achieving strategic imperatives, such as improved gender inclusion and advancement, becomes even more complex in times of crisis. These goals are more important than ever before, as scientists, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and the UN Secretary-General, all report that COVID-19 has exacerbated gender inequities and may negatively impact the trajectory of many women, from the living room to the board room. In recent weeks, resilience thinking has been recognized as a way to embrace the current environmental uncertainties and while still prioritizing strategic imperatives. A resilience thinking approach explores how organizational systems manage change in the face of external uncertainties. We can then develop scenarios for how we might recognize and address uncertainties if they arise. Join Professor Wiljeana Glover of Babson College in an interactive session to explore how resilience thinking can help your organization continue to achieve its strategic imperatives in the days of COVID-19. This interactive session will define resilience thinking and will include three activities: (1) Participants will take a survey assessing their team’s current level of uncertainty and resilience, (2) Given the driving forces of COVID-19 (e.g., financial, operational, and behavioral risks), participants will select two specific uncertainties that may have the most impact on their strategic imperatives (3)Based on these two specific uncertainties, participants will create a scenario planning matrix and discuss the implications of the scenarios on their decision making. Leaders, team members, individual contributors, and anyone who is interested in enhancing their resilience thinking abilities will find this session useful. This webinar is part of our Friday #SkillUP series. Our #SkillUP series is a webinar series to engage Boston’s workforce to become even better at their digital skills as they manage work and manage themselves. Sessions will focus on the actions an individual can take during this time to be a better contributor, manager, or leader in their company and society. This webinar is also part of our All in for Advancement Program, a new year-long, custom group leadership program designed to support organizations as they shape and shift their culture towards gender equity and inclusivity.
