Cupelo is region president, Massachusetts/Rhode Island of Verizon Communications, where she is responsible for the company's service delivery, government and regulatory affairs, and public policy in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She is also a member of the Verizon New England Board. Cupelo has been at Verizon for more than 25 years. She started at NYNEX, a predecessor to Bell Atlantic and then Verizon, and quickly moved up the ranks. She served as director of product marketing, branch manager of systems marketing, vice president and general manager, and was named region president in 1997. Cupelo is the recipient of numerous professional and community awards including a ‘Pinnacle Award' from the Greater Boston Chamber and a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award' from Providence College. She serves on the board of directors of the Greater Boston Chamber, the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, and the Boston Private Industry Council and is a member of Governor Romney's Task Force on Electric Reliability.
