Prior to her position at the Boston Globe, Goodman worked as a reporter for the Detroit Free Press and as a researcher at Newsweek. Goodman has garnered numerous awards and accolades for her work including the Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Commentary, the President's Award from the National Women's Political Caucus, and the American Woman Award from the Women's Research & Education Institute. She is the author of the book ''Turning Points'' and the co-author of ''I Know Just What You Mean: The Power of Friendship in Women's Lives.''
