''Women and Wages: Debunking Myths & Eliminating the Gap'' In today's workplace, the wage gap between men and women still persists. In fact, the discrepancy adds up to a steady drain on the daily lives of women and their families and may cause women to miss out on better medical treatment, housing, child care, or retirement savings. Join us as recognized business leader, academic, and public official, Evelyn Murphy discusses the truth about wage gaps, how they affect us all, and how to eliminate them. Murphy is the president of The Wage Project, Inc., a national organization that works to end wage discrimination against working women. She is also the resident scholar in the Women's Studies Research Center at Brandeis University and the author of the recently published book ''Getting Even: Why Women Don't Get Paid Like Men and What to do About it.'' Prior to her current roles, Murphy served as executive vice president at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts. While at Blue Cross and Blue Shield, she founded and served as president of the HealthCare Policy Institute. In 1986, Murphy was elected Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, becoming the first woman to hold constitutional office in the history of the Commonwealth.
