Margaret McKenna President The Wal-Mart Foundation Margaret McKenna is president of the Wal-Mart Foundation, responsible for overseeing charitable contributions and managing corporate-level relationships with philanthropic partners such as the Salvation Army, America’s Second Harvest, the United Way, and Children’s Miracle Network. The Wal-Mart Foundation is the largest cash contributor in America, raising and donating more than $400 million to support 100,000 charitable and community organizations. Under McKenna’s leadership, the Wal-Mart Foundation has launched a State Giving Program, designed to award grants at the state and regional level to support those areas’ unmet needs. Prior to joining Wal-Mart, McKenna served as president of Lesley University and transformed the once-small college into a 12,000-student university with a national presence. During her 22-year tenure, the university’s endowment increased from $2 million to more than $90 million, making it one of the premier teacher training universities in America. McKenna serves as a director of Dominion Resources, Inc., and sits on the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the board of directors of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Princeton Review Advisory Board and the Democratic National Committee Women’s Leadership Forum.
