Marsha Firestone, Ph.D.PresidentWomen Presidents' Organization "Women Empowering Women" There are now more than 10.4 million privately-held, women-owned businesses in the United States, employing 12.8 million and generating 1.9 billion in sales. More than 75 percent of young women graduating from college say they want to own their own business at some point in their life. As a business owner, women can have more control of time, more influence, more power, and a bigger piece of the pie. But what tools do women need to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors? Marsha Firestone, Ph.D., is the founder and president of the Women Presidents' Organization (WPO), an organization for women whose businesses annually gross over $2 million. The WPO is currently operating in 50 locations nationwide, with international operations in Canada, London, and Peru. The WPO acts as a peer advisory group for female business owners during different stages of their growth. Dr. Firestone is a frequent guest speaker and the recipient of numerous awards for her work with women business owners. At this informative session, she will discuss the power of women empowering other women, national trends for women-owned businesses, characteristics of women who have fast growth businesses, and suggestions that will help you to better connect with this market.
