''Wallop or Whimper: Establishing Credibility and Authority Across Gender'' Mary Shapiro is a professor of management at Simmons School of Management, where she teaches MBA courses on communications strategies, team leadership, and career strategies. A recognized authority in communications, Shapiro creates and delivers public speaking and leadership seminars, serves as an executive speech coach, and helps organizations launch teams and turn around teams in crises. She is also the developer of ''The Communication Styles Diagnostic,'' a tool used by more than 4,000 managers to improve their effectiveness with individuals and teams. Prior to joining the Simmons MBA faculty in 1993, Shapiro served as a consultant and executive trainer, helping companies to develop infrastructure and skills competencies critical to reaching organizational goals. Her clients included public and private Fortune 500 companies such as ESPN and Merck Pharmaceuticals. Shapiro is the recent co-author the book Your Job Interview: An Easy, Smart Guide to Interview Success, and continues her research in the area of women, their careers, and their relationship with powers.
